This time of year those words are casually thrown around. You read them in Christmas cards, see them in lawn displays and hear them sung in Christmas carols.
Ever stop to really consider them?
Joy. To. The. World.
But why? If you watch the news, the world seems like such an awful place. Man’s inhumanity to man is on display 24/7 courtesy of your favorite news source. Violence, murder, war – left to it’s own devices, it’s incapable of joy.
So why joy?
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
God loves us. He loves us so much that he gave us His only begotten son!
We celebrate that gift this time of year. The gift that makes it possible for us to be His kids!
What? God wants me to be HIS KID??? He loves ME?
Yes. And He tells us over and over in His Word – the Bible.
If we believe in God, His son, Jesus Christ, and make Jesus Lord in our lives, we can experience joy even in a world bent on self destruction.
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9,10
